"D" Day

This is Thursday, April 12, better known as "D" day.  D for departure.

We planned to drive 589 miles today and stay overnight at Heyburn, ID.  We left about 8am in the rain.  We were a bit worried about running into traffic crossing the 205 bridge into Oregon, but while it was heavy, it was moving.  Besides, we were taking I-84 east, so we were not on I-205 very long.

We did have a lot of rain until just east of the Dalles.  After that, we did have some showers, but overall, better driving conditions.  We arrived in Heyburn about 6 or so and decided to stay at a Super-8 Motel.  They have a nice discount for veterans, so it only cost about $59 for a two bed room.

Overall, Carol rated the room as a "B."  I would have to agree.  They have a simple breakfast of cereals, waffles that you bake, toast, biscuits and gravy, and sausage.  They have a few other items.  Overall, not a bad breakfast for them to include in the price.  Plus they serve it from 4am to 9am!  I guess there are a lot of truckers!
